Nov 2010 - Canned Food and Non Persishable Items Drive

22 members of the Monroe Co MS Y-club collected items for Haitian orphans. The club teamed up with a staff member’s friend, Holly Wood and Living Word Ministries, in collecting not only food items for the orphanage but also basic necessities such as shoes and under garments.

Before flying to Haiti with the supplies, Holly spoke to some of the middle school social studies classes and shared her travel experiences to the underprivileged country. Holly’s initial flight out was cancelled due to rioting there, but she has since arrived safely in Haiti and has distributed the much-needed supplies. She has reported back that some of the children had been without food for 3-4 days.
